Making a plate

I came across a different way to make plates. Previously I’d just thrown them: using my hands and a rib to get as flat as possible, but often getting a thinner bit near the outside edge as I raised the walls, or a thinner bit in the middle as I pushed more clay to the edge. This technique used a rolling pin to make a flat disc, which I can trim to the required diameter. I then use a rib to raise the edges and carefully pull the rim to the final intended diameter. This helps with consistence and ensures the middle is flat!
